1000lb Best Friends fans devastated as star shares heartbreaking death announcement

Star of TLC reality show 1000lb Best Friends, Vannessa Cross, had her fans rallying around her as she shared some tragic news via social media this week amid her weight loss journey

1000lb Best Friends star Vannessa Cross left fans devastated this week as she announced news of a heartbreaking death in her family.

Vannessa has suffered a setback in her weight loss journey as she confirmed that her grandmother sadly passed away on Saturday (February 11).

Sharing a sweet tribute to her gran Eldora on Instagram, Vannessa explained to fans: “My grandmother Eldora passed away yesterday. She is with god now.”

Accompanying the caption were various snaps of Vannessa’s gran, with the first showing her dazzling in a golden tiara and feather boa as she rested in a wheelchair.

In another snap, she could be seen living it up in a sombrero, before relaxing with her cat in her lap and alongside her beloved husband in a sweet throwback photo.

Fans soon rushed to give Vannessa their best wishes, with her co-star Meghan writing: “Sending love and prayers to the entire family.”

Ashley Sutton added: “Love and prayers to you and the family.”

Another one of Vannessa’s fans wrote: “May memories always bring blessings,” as a second echoed: “So sorry for the loss of your grandmother. Sending prayers and lots of hugs.”

“You sure have her eyes,” someone else told the TLC star, as another fan wrote: “So sorry to hear this. My condolences to you and your family!!”

It comes after the news that one of Vannessa’s TLC network co-stars, Tammy Slaton, achieved her goal weight for bariatric surgery over on 1000lb Sisters.

Tammy had to get down to 550 pounds to be considered for the op after her “body shut down” and she was forced to undergo an emergency tracheotomy last year.

From an initial weight of 717lbs, Tammy dropped to 534 pounds – and confessed she “stopped breathing” when she heard the news.

Now Tammy looks totally unrecognisable in her TikTok videos, and could be seen ditching her breathing tube for a less intrusive oxygen cannula – and looking a lot slimmer around her face.

“I did that! I’m feeling thrilled, proud, excited — just all the emotions. I proved everybody wrong. Everybody that doubted me, I finally got mine! My told-you-so moment!”
